In Denmark you can grow different crops. Some of the common crops are shown
below. At school I learned a handy rule for remembering which is which : these are the names for the
most common wheat sorts grown here. They are recognised for the length of the
"eye-lashes". These go together with the length of the letters in the words used for them:
"Hvede-rug-byg". The word with the least letters below the letter line is the one without
letters below and the one with the most letters below the line is the one with the longest
"eye-lashes". Get it?
(Hvede in Danish) White flour wheat - used for bread and animal feed.
(Raps in Danish) Rape Seed - used for margerine, oil for cooking.
(Byg in Danish) Barley - used for beer and animal feed.
